Mission and Goals of the Coffee Cabal

The Coffee Cabal has a mission that is relatively straightforward: help others where we can. While most charities focus on specific causes such as hunger, homelessness, medical assistance and other needs, the Coffee Cabal does not focus on any one area in particular. Examples of areas we do plan on supporting however include food charities, worker training, organic practices and open source to name a few. As our organization is based in the greater Seattle region, our focuses on local issues within the area.

Our long term plan is to slowly build a community of over 10,000 members, through word of mouth, networking and our website Coffee.net. It's a large goal for a fledging organization, but where we lack in large budgets we make up in patience and perseverance. When we have reached our goal, we will be working to develop a community called the Coffee Network that will harness the collective bargaining and purchasing power of the group.

The benefits of participating in the Coffee Network aims to include local businesses and restaurants that provide discounted services to members. At the same time, portions of the proceeds from doing business inside the Coffee Network will be donated to charitable causes. Whereas other large organizations (alumni associations, unions, trade organizations) use their collective power to benefit their members and organization, our goal is to benefit our members and charities - not ourselves.

The reason why we are venturing into this experiment is not for self-gain, but simply to do good. There are no highly paid CEOs at our company, no army of workers and no venture funding to push an IPO. There are only a tiny group of individuals that wear a dizzying array of hats to perform the jobs that need to be done.

If you're starting to see just how we think different, then we encourage you to join our cause and help move us toward our goal. Tell your friends, associates and anyone else that will be curious into joining our grand experiment!
