Long Standing Greek Pizza in Seattle

One of the big mainstays along the Alki beach coast, Pegasus Pizza and Pasta has been around for a very long time.

The interior of Pegasus has a very antique look to it and its not deliberately done. The restaurant has been around for a long and it really shows. The hardwood tables and booths with their elaborate patterns carved in with lots of “flair” scattered through the place reminiscent Chotchkie’s from the movie Office Space.

Pegasus offers a variety of food that is sure hit some part of your taste buds. There are six specialty pizzas as well as 30 other types of pizzas available. Some of the regular favorites are the Chicken Pesto sandwich and the Meatball Sub. We ended up ordering the Chicken Pesto sub and also tested out the House Special Pizza.

The pizza served at Pegasus doesn’t look like the typical pizza served at most joints. The house special pizza had layers of mushrooms, olives, green peppers, olives, feta and mozzarella cheese, and thin crispy strips of pepperoni on top. One reviewer commented that the crust was none too impressive and the sauce and cheese seemed very plain. Both agreed that the taste is very different from what you would expect from the average pizza and the choice of ingredients is something you wouldn’t find anywhere else. We were a little disappointed by the scarcity of sauce and the pizza had a very cheesy taste to it.

The Chicken Pesto sandwich was not very remarkable. Though the bread was nicely toasted, it seemed very plain and the taste lacked any real taste of pesto. Both reviewers felt like the sandwich could have used more sauce to give it more punch. The meat department also seemed a little thin, but overall it tasted ok.

On the value scale, it seemed a little weak on the portions. The medium pizza ended up costing around $18, while the grinder ran us about $7. The sandwich price was more palatable, but the price of the pizza was a little far-fetched for our tastes.

In the end, Pegasus does have a long standing history in the Greater Seattle Area, but the price of some of the food is a little high for our pocketbooks. The quality was decent, but not enough for we were paying.
